How To prepare Strand hair for installation ​

​​​Hydrate, shampoo, condition and seal the wefts of Strand hair prior to installation. These are important steps that will provide the hair with needed moisture and ensure longevity. The shampoo and conditioner must be compatible with the hair type.

Hydrate: Fill a basin or sink with enough warm water to completely submerge the Strand hair. Add a generous amount of recommended Conditioner to the water. Dissolve the conditioner by simply swishing the water with your hands. Do not remove the weft ties. Place the wefts, closure or frontal inside of the basin. Allow hair to remain in this hydrating bath for at least one hour. 

Shampoo: Remove the hair product from the hydration bath. Gently rinse with warm water. Apply Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo to the hair, while holding the weft or closure base, gently shampoo in a downward fashion. Rinse thoroughly.

Condition: Apply a generous amount of recommended conditioner to the hair. Gently comb hair with a wide tooth comb, for even coverage. Place hair in a plastic bag for 5 minutes. Remove hair from bag and rinse thoroughly. Apply a recommended leave-in conditioner, and gently comb hair with a wide tooth comb.

Dry: Lay hair flat on a towel or hang to air dry.

Weft or Closure Sealing:
​Should be done after the hair has been allowed to completely dry. This is not a requirement,  but it is highly recommended. 

Strand Extensions General Hair Care Tips:

Straight or ​​Wavy
• Shampoo and condition hair regularly with sulfate-free products.
• Keep styling products to a minimum to prevent weighing down your hair.
• Keep your hair light by only using a small amount of heat protectant (for flat ironing only).
• For daily styling, use a light styling product, or allow hair to air dry product free for a full look.

Curly
• Shampoo and condition hair regularly with sulfate-free products.
• Keep styling products to a minimum to prevent weighing down your hair.
• Keep your hair light by only using a small amount of heat protection (for flat ironing only).
• For daily styling, use a light styling product, or allow hair to air dry product free for a full look.
• When hair is wet, comb or brush through with a paddle brush. You can also finger comb the hair.
• To prevent frizz, do not scrunch your curls! Allow hair to air-dry or use a hair dryer with a diffuser attached. We recommend that you separate the curls during the drying process with your fingers. Try not to over-do it. The less manipulation, the better.
